Shooting help goes a long way

A couple of weeks ago (6) I was at a range with a friend of mine and was watching a newbie struggle with his CZ to get on target.

I started talking to him during a cease fire and offered to help. He agreeed and during the next 10 min secession I showed him what helped me reguarding grip, stance and, trigger work. He immediatley tightened up a lot. I mean a heck of a lot.

Fast forward to tonight

I was with the same friend and we stopped into a local shooting good store:rofl: and a guy starts telling me how thankful he is to me and treating me like I'm really his hero or something. I was at a loss not recognizeing him and feeling at a real disadvantage. He says, remember you helped me with my 9mm at the range------(It dawns on me)Oh Yeah your that guy, so how are you doing?

Well let me tell you hes a fricken marksman now 3inch circle at twenty-five yards ---Way better than me--- Good times there for next five min or so as hes telling me how he tought his mom and other family members how to shoot ect.

Its so dang nice to see a young guy develope his new skill and pass it on.

I thought I'd pass a good story along.

E-A

PS He walked out with a new AK

Awesome EA ! :coolbeer:

Kudos for training someone to learn the skill of shooting.

The quote is for his graduation present ~ glad to see someone deserving of having such a fine survival weapon.

Hell, we could all probably use a lesson. Cross reference with one another

Strategy
Tactics
Execution
Luck

That's the best thing I've heard in a while. Thanks for taking the time to help a guy out.

Good job, keep up the good work! And to everyone here, there is a lesson to be learned here. The more people we help into the "Gun Culture" the more political clout we have.

Good job, E-A!

And excellent advice, MtnMan! I used to bowl a lot, and I used to think bowlers were the biggest asshats in the world. Then I went golfing....

Point is, I see too many pr!cks on the firing line. I also see some RSOs that act like they're God Almighty. All that does is make people too self-conscious to enjoy their range time, and it puts all shooters in a bad light.

In today's political environment, we need all the friends we can get. Way to be an ambassador, E-A!:ok:

I've introduced a number of people to pistol/target shooting. Once they realise that when done properly, it is a safe, fun activity, they completely change their opinions or biases, and become real advocates for shooting.

Months later they even still have their targets in the kitchen. etc. hehe..

They even ask to go to the range sometimes, which is nice.

Nothing is more satisfying than de-mystifying guns, and having people enjoy using them safely.

When I initially got into shooting I was very apprehensive myself, after a lot of range time, and a couple of years of shooting I'm completely competent, accurate, and comfortable around loaded firearms. When you come to the realisation that it is simply a tool that you have to handle properly, then it becomes rewarding and enjoyable.

I was fortunate that my R.O's were all decent, safe, relaxed, likeable, and generally well-informed people who encouraged my shooting and improved my skills with their advice.
